The 2019 Ford Escape

The 2019 Ford Escape is available in four separate trim levels: S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. The base S comes with MyKey parental controls, automatic headlights, cruise control, 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a USB port, a six-speaker sound system, a 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seat, Bluetooth®*, a CD player, and a height-adjustable driver seat. Drivers who choose the SE will receive voice controls, satellite radio, keyless entry keypad, roof rails, remote app services, push-button ignition, fog lights, Sync Connect, rear air vents, heated front seats, Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch Touchscreen, cloth upholstery, Android Auto, a rear privacy glass, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The SEL trim adds all of the features from the SE trim as well as roof rack rails, a power liftgate, premium cloth upholstery, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and rear parking sensors. The top trim – the Titanium – gains a 10-speaker Sony audio system, a navigation system, remote start, 19-inch wheels, HD radio, front and rear parking sensors, xenon headlights, a power liftgate, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, and driver memory settings.

A LOOK INTO THE PAST OF THE FORD ESCAPE

The Ford Escape was introduced to the North American market in 2001. The vehicle represented an important element in the Ford product mix as the sport utility boom was just about to hit the market. The Escape looked and felt like a truck based sport utility vehicle, but was actually marketed towards a more car-centric audience. The Escape was notable for being the first SUV ever to be offered in a hybrid model which Ford released in 2005.

The Escape was redesigned for the 2008 model year and began a concerted shift away from the “truck-ish” SUV appearance that marked the previous generation model. This design shift was completed with the 2013 model of the Escape as it now sported a true crossover like appearance. Ford continued its mission of loading up every model in their lineup with all the latest technology and the 2013 Escape was no exception.

For the 2017 model year, Ford refreshed the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Once again, technology options were increased on the Escape and the vehicle continues to rank among Ford’s best-selling models (only bested by the F-150 truck).
