New Features & Updates on the 2019 Ford Super Duty

After a complete redesign during the previous model year, the Ford Super Duty moves forward into 2019 with only slight changes. Most notable among them are the B&O premium sound system and 4G LTE Wi-Fi options available on the inside of the truck. With the 2019 Super Duty lineup, you’ve got three models to choose from: F-250, F-350, and F-450. Also, within each of those models, you’ve got a diverse array of trim options to choose from including: XL, XLT, Limited, King Ranch®, Platinum, and Lariat.

A LOOK INTO THE PAST OF THE FORD SUPER DUTY

The “Super Duty” name appeared in Ford’s F-Series lineup of trucks as early as the 1960’s, but did not become a separate line until 1999. Ford introduced the Super Duty as an independent line designed to satisfy true work truck needs among buyers. The Super Duty distinguished itself from other Ford truck models by being heavier with more powerful engines and components.

The first generation models remained largely unchanged until 2008 when Ford launched a completely redesigned Super Duty line of trucks. Exterior styling and engine components were the most notable changes on the Super Duty for this model year. Ford made gasoline and diesel engine options available, and the Super Duty sold well during this time period.

The third generation of Super Duty trucks arrived on dealership lots in 2011. Ford continued to refine the engine technologies in the Super Duty line and this generation also marked a concerted effort on the factory’s part to improve interior equipment. This was due to an increased demand from buyers for “nicer” interior equipment in trucks (even those specifically designed for heavy duty work).

For the 2017 model year, an all-new Super Duty lineup was launched into the North American market. Ford characterized the 2017 Super Duty as the “smartest and toughest Super Duty ever.” The truck buying public seemed to agree with this sentiment and Super Duty sales continue to grow into the present day.
