<p>The 2018 Mustang is offered in three main trims: Ecoboost, GT, and Shelby GT350. All Ecoboost and GT models come in either coupe (fastback) or convertible body style. The Ecoboost models are available in Ecoboost and Ecoboost Premium sub-trim levels. The base Ecoboost features 17-inch aluminum wheels, a black sport-mesh grille, LED Headlamps with LED signature lighting, and a dual bright exhaust with rolled tips, while the Ecoboost Premium adds LED fog lamps, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and a blade deck-lid spoiler.<br/><br/>The GT models are also offered in GT and GT Premium sub-trim levels, both of which come with an exclusive rear diffuser, quad exhaust tips, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The ultra-performance Shelby GT350 models features twin stripes that run from the front to the back in true track-car fashion.<p/>
Engine (Power)
Ford removed the V6 from the Mustang engine lineup and made revisions to the other engines for more power and better fuel efficiency. The Ecoboost models are equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-four engine rated at 310 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The GT, on the other hand, features a 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 engine that generates 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. The range-topping Shelby GT350 gets a power-packed 5.2-liter Flat Plane Crank V8 that churns out a whopping 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque.
Performance
<p>The 2018 Mustang comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission that delivers swift, seamless shifting and steady acceleration. Models equipped with either the 2.3-liter engine or the 5.0-liter V8 offer an optional 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The available option for the Shelby GT350 is a heavy-duty sport-tuned TREMEC six-speed manual transmission.<br/><br/>Although it’s capable of providing a thrilling ride, the new Mustang drives smoothly and stably at both low and high speeds. For 2018, it receives new shock absorbers for improved ride quality, cross-axis rear suspension joint for reduced body roll, and stabilizing bars for better handling.<p/>
Interior
The cabin of the 2018 Ford Mustang can accommodate up to four passengers. With the EcoBoost and GT, you’ll get a leather-wrapped steering wheel, high- quality cloth seats, intelligent push-start button, six-speaker sound system, and auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Ecoboost Premium and GT Premium models add premium features such as leather upholstery, power-adjustable heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a nine-speaker sound system. The Mustang also comes with Ford’s first 12-inch digital LCD screen.
Safety Features
Along with the exceptional power, the 2018 Ford Mustang offers confident stopping power. The EcoBoost and GT models feature four-wheel power disc brakes with an anti-lock brake system and traction control. The Shelby GT350, on the other hand, is equipped with 15-inch or 15.5-inch two-piece iron discs with Brembo brake calipers for stronger braking at high speeds. Other safety features you’ll find in the new Mustang include pre-collision assist, distance alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and others.
