<p>The 2018 F-150 is offered in seven trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, Platinum, King Ranch, Limited, and Raptor. These trims are available in regular cab, SuperCab (extended cab), and SuperCrew (crew cab) body styles. The regular cab and SuperCab gets either the standard 6-foot 6-inch cargo bed or an 8-foot long bed, while the SuperCrew comes with only a 5-foot 6-inch short bed.<br/><br/>The base XL trim features a black grille, black front and rear bumpers, 17-inch steel wheels, and automatic halogen headlamps. The Lariat adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, while the King Ranch has a unique two-bar chrome grille with Caribou mesh insert. At the top of the range, the Raptor looks markedly different with a unique grille emblazoned with the name Ford in block letters, hood with air extractors, flared front fenders, body-color front fascia, and performance bumpers.<p></p>
Engine (Power)
<p>The base engine for the 2018 F-150 is a new 3.3-liter V-6 engine that generates 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with an electronic six-speed automatic transmission and delivers a fuel economy rating of 18/23 mpg (city/highway). The next engine option is a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that’s good for 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.<br/><br/>The King Ranch and Platinum models feature a more powerful 5.0-liter V-8 engine that puts out 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, while the Limited uses a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that develops 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Raptor comes with an upgraded version of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 that delivers 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.<p></p>
Performance
The 3.3-liter V-6 engine gives the F-150 a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 pounds, while the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 increases the capacity to 8,500 pounds. With the 5.0-liter V-8 engine, the truck can tow up to 11,100 pounds. When equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, the F-150’s maximum towing capacity rises to a class-leading 13,200 pounds. It also offers a best-in-class maximum payload capacity of 3,270 pounds. In addition, the truck is an exceptional off roader when it’s equipped with optional off-road-tuned suspension and locking rear differential.
Interior
The 2018 F-150 also offers a well-designed and comfortable cabin. All cab styles are sufficiently roomy, but the SuperCrew models provide kingly comfort with plenty of headroom and legroom. The Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims come standard with leather upholstery, automatic climate control, power-adjustable seats, and heated front seats. Optional features include a 10-speaker audio system, satellite radio, Wi-Fi hot spot, twin-panel moonroof, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system.
Safety Features
One notable safety feature in the 2018 Ford F-150 is the AdvanceTrac with roll stability control. This feature senses when you corner too quickly or a wheel slippage occurs. Then it automatically reduces engine power and applies brakes to individual wheels to restore control. The truck also comes with a rear view camera that enables you to back up safely and four-wheel anti-lock brakes that deliver confident stopping power.
