The 2018 Expedition comes in three familiar trims: XLT, Limited, and Platinum. There’s also an XL for fleets and an extended Max that’s eight inches longer. From the front, the SUV looks handsome and neat with headlamps nicely integrated into its chrome three-segment grille. A higher beltline and new C-pillar design give it a stronger and safer appearance. With its aluminum body, the new Expedition is about 300 pounds lighter than the outgoing model.
Engine (Power)
The 2018 Ford Expedition comes with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 375 hp. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, this engine is highly responsive due to its twin intercooled turbochargers that deliver a surge of power on demand and direct injection that maximizes power from fuel. The Platinum trim gets an enhanced version of the engine with automatic start-stop technology for more refined power and a SelectShift transmission for smoother power delivery.
Performance
The new Expedition gives you a comfortable and stable driving experience in almost all kinds of situations, from congested urban roads to highways. It comes with an independent multilink rear suspension and optional continuously controlled damping for better control, as well as electronic limited-slip differential for better acceleration on unstable, wet, muddy, or icy surfaces. When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 9,300 pounds. While Ford hasn’t released the fuel economy figures for the 2018 Expedition, the vehicle is expected to be more fuel efficient than its predecessor because of its reduced weight.
