Where Are Ford Vehicles Made?

Many truck owners prefer their rides to be American-made. If you have been looking for a brand that’s based in our country, then you should set your sights on Ford. And here at Gilland Ford, we are proud to carry these vehicles!

Plant Locations

It may please you to hear that most Ford vehicles are manufactured in America. Whether it’s for individual parts or final assembly, there are a total of 25 Ford plants in the country as of 2022. On top of that, they have two additional plants planned for the future specifically for their EV batteries. Additionally, their headquarters is in Dearborn, MI, and has reported that over 80% of their vehicles sold in the U.S. are also manufactured and built here. Their largest assembly plants are in Chicago, IL; Louisville, KY; Wayne, MI; Kansas City, MO; Flat Rock, MI; and Avon Lake, OH. These locations are responsible for the Explorer, Escape, Expedition, Super Duty, Ranger, Bronco, F-150, Transit, Mustang, and E-Series models.

Future of Ford

Beyond just plant locations in America to create iconic Ford vehicles, the company is also planning on a greener future. They are turning more towards electric models by both building new locations and changing current ones. While this will change the jobs available, they plan on maintaining as many positions as possible so their vehicles are still truly American-made. Plus, their American employment rates have increased in recent years. This is both due to new plants and the increase in demand for Ford automobiles. A new complex to be built in Dearborn, MI, will be dedicated to electric models, keeping their promise of a more sustainable process close to their heart. Along with the batteries, they are also testing new technology that will allow the company better connection to their vehicles for software updates and other benefits.

Other Locations

Besides just U.S. locations, there are plants in Canada and Mexico as well. On a more international scale outside of the Americas, you can find the Ford name in Thailand, France, China, Germany, England, and many other countries. These are typically smaller factories that make specific parts rather than whole vehicles, but that is not always the case. Some models, like the Transit, Bronco Sport, and international models that are not sold in America are commonly built outside of the country. Plus, since Lincoln is the luxury brand of Ford, some of those vehicles are made in countries around the world as well.
