2020 Ford Ranger vs 2020 Honda Ridgeline near Dothan, AL

Instead of just going with a satisfactory pickup truck, consider treating yourself to a vehicle that combines authoritative muscle with top-notch amenities like the 2020 Ford Ranger. Though others may try, few can give this model a run for its money, and we at Gilland Ford can’t say we’re too surprised. That being said, we’ve compiled the following comparison between the Ranger and the 2020 Honda Ridgeline to make our point!

Which Can Tow More - the 2020 Ranger or 2020 Ridgeline?

At first glance, you might think that the Honda Ridgeline has the 2020 Ranger beat. At the very least, its standard 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 engine delivers 280-hp1 and 262 lb.-ft. of torque2, whereas the Ford’s 2.3L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder powertrain produces 270-hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. However, when we hook them up to a trailer and see what they can do, the Ranger easily outmatches the Honda, courtesy of its 7,500-lb. maximum towing capacity3. The Ridgeline, on the other hand, is only capable of a 5,000-lb. maximum towing capacity4. As if that weren’t enough, the truck from Ford achieves up tp 21/26 MPG city/hwy5, while the Honda comes up a bit shy with its 2WD fuel economy rating of 19/26 MPG city/hwy6

Cabin Tech

The 2020 Ford Ranger continues to keep on impressing when we add technology to the equation. Whereas the 2020 Honda Ridgeline only lets you access SiriusXM® Satellite Radio7 on its two highest trim levels, you can enjoy this feature on all trims of the Ford if you so choose. That way, you’ll have plenty of selection to pick from when you’re heading out for a drive along Route 231. The model from Honda also falls flat in other ways, especially since it lacks Wi-Fi on all editions—something that’s included as standard on the Ranger. And, even though the Ridgeline does let you equip an available 8-speaker sound system, its rival from Ford goes the extra mile with its 10-speaker optional setup.

Dimensions

Finally, although the Ford Ranger and Honda Ridgeline belong to the same vehicle segment, you won’t have the same amount of space at your disposal if you choose one over the other. With the former, you’ll have an easy time getting comfortable behind the wheel, as it provides a welcoming 43.1 inches of legroom. Unfortunately, this may not be the case with the latter, due to its less generous 40.9 inches of first-row legroom. Things don’t improve much for the Honda when we take the exterior into consideration, since its cargo box is just 64.0 inches long with 33.8 cubic ft. of storage8. Thankfully, the Ford has your back, stepping up with a bed that’s up to 72.8 inches in length with 51.8 cubic ft. of volume9
