2020 Ford Expedition vs 2020 Nissan Armada near Dothan, AL

In the world of full-size SUVs, few have what it takes to successfully challenge the 2020 Ford Expedition. Thanks in part to its balanced capabilities, spacious interior, and advanced cabin features, this model has little difficulty dominating the competition. Today, Gilland Ford is here to tell you more about how the Expedition is superior to the 2020 Nissan Armada, so you know what to expect when you visit us for a test drive.

Performance

The 2020 Expedition doesn’t waste any time getting down to business. Courtesy of the standard 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine that’s included on all trims, you’ll have seamless access to 375-hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque at a healthy 17/24 MPG city/hwy1 with the 4x2 drivetrain. Even with 4x4, this muscle still comes at a reliable 17/22 MPG city/hwy1, so you won’t constantly be making stops at the pump to refuel. Meanwhile, although the Nissan Armada’s standard 5.6L V8 engine generates 390-hp and 394 lb.-ft. of torque, it maintains a much less impressive 14/19 MPG city/hwy2 and 13/18 MPG city/hwy2 with 4x2 and 4x4, respectively. In fact, the Armada is also less powerful when put to the test, as its 8,500-lb. maximum towing capacity3 pales in comparison to the 9,300-lb. maximum trailering rating4 of the Ford.

Comfort & Space

Next, let’s examine what the interiors of the 2020 Ford Expedition and the 2020 Nissan Armada have to offer. If you’re planning on taking friends and family over to Dixie Boys Baseball Park, then you’ll likely prefer the spacious dimensions of the former, as the back offers 42.6 and 36.1 inches of legroom in the second and third row, respectively. To compare, the Armada supplies a less impressive 41.0 and 28.4 inches of space for these areas. Up front, the story doesn’t improve much for the Nissan, as it fails to measure up to the Ford when it comes to comfort. The Expedition is available with Active Motion® multi-contoured chairs for the driver and front passenger, which help reduce fatigue during long drives. With the Armada, you’ll just receive traditional 10-way power-adjustable seats in the first row.

Technology

Finally, let’s determine whether the Ford Expedition or Nissan Armada is the more tech-savvy set of wheels. With the former, you’ll be able to equip your SUV with an optional wireless charging pad to get your phone back at full battery without the need for cords. Unfortunately, the model from Nissan doesn’t offer this amenity at any trim level. Furthermore, although both vehicles have available safety upgrades, the Expedition makes them a bit easier to access. For instance, its standard trim offers the Blind Spot Information System5 and Lane-Keeping System5 as options. Though the Armada has similar features, they can only be accessed if you upgrade to a higher edition.
